Creador - Nicole Maines

Nicole Maines is an American actress, writer, and transgender rights activist. She gained national attention as the anonymous plaintiff in a landmark Maine Supreme Judicial Court case, which ruled that denying a transgender student access to the bathroom consistent with their gender identity is unlawful—the first such ruling by a state court.

Maines made television history by portraying Nia Nal, also known as Dreamer, on The CW’s “Supergirl,” marking the first appearance of a transgender superhero on TV.

Expanding into comic book writing, Maines introduced Dreamer into DC Comics with a story in the DC Pride anthology. She co-wrote “Superman: Son of Kal-El #13” and released her first graphic novel, “Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story,” exploring Dreamer’s origin and journey toward self-acceptance. She also authored the limited series “Suicide Squad: Dream Team,” featuring Dreamer collaborating with characters like Harley Quinn and Bizarro.

In her memoir, “It Gets Better… Except When It Gets Worse,” Maines offers an unfiltered look at her journey from rural Maine to Hollywood, discussing both her triumphs and challenges.

Through her multifaceted career, Maines continues to advocate for transgender rights, sharing her experiences to inspire and educate others.
