Santa’s Village Night Market & Scrooge: A Christmas Carol Signing

This year, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future are clocking in early at Revenge Of.

On Saturday, December 13th, 2025, we’re transforming the lot into Santa’s Village for our annual holiday night market—and as a very special treat, we’re welcoming Jason Shawn Alexander in person to sign his brand-new illustrated novel, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol.

If you love haunted holiday vibes, moody ink work, and the feeling of a classic story made strange and beautiful again, you’re going to want this on your shelf. And in your stocking. And probably in a gift bag for that one particularly spooky friend.

What is Scrooge:
A Christmas Carol?

Years ago—24 years ago, to be precise—Jason Shawn Alexander created around 80 illustrations for a Scrooge “illustrated novel” that never quite escaped the ghostly realm of “almost happened.”

Recently, he rediscovered that artwork and decided not just to dust it off, but to rework, redraw, and complete the book at last. Some of those original pieces have been gently tweaked; others were completely reborn; new illustrations have been added to flesh out the vision.

Jason describes the process as a rare chance to have “an in-depth creative conversation with [his] 25-year-old self.” That’s the energy you feel on every page: a dialogue across time, between who he was and who he is now, wrapped around Charles Dickens’ most enduring ghost story.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is:

  • An illustrated novel featuring 80+ illustrations
  • Written by Charles Dickens
  • Illustrated by Jason Shawn Alexander
  • Introduction by David Dastmalchian
  • Foreword by Rodney Barnes

It’s a Christmas classic reimagined through the eyes of an artist known for atmospheric, emotionally charged work—a perfect match for a tale full of shadows, spirits, and second chances.

Meet Jason Shawn Alexander

If you’ve spent any time in the worlds of horror, superheroes, or the beautifully uncanny, you’ve probably crossed paths with Jason’s work.

Jason Shawn Alexander is an expressionist figurative painter, illustrator, and comic book creator, drawing from the vulnerability, fear, and grit of his rural upbringing just outside the haunted cradle of the Delta Blues.

Highlights from his career:

  • His paintings have headlined solo shows at venues like Corey Helford Gallery (Culver City, CA) and 101/exhibit
  • In 2009, one of his portraits hung in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC
  • His work lives in collections across the US and abroad
  • In comics, he’s spent over 20 years illustrating and creating, earning two Eisner Award nominations and a Silver Medal from the Society of Illustrators
  • He’s contributed art and co-created titles at DC/Vertigo, Marvel, Dark Horse, and Image, including work on Spawn, Killadelphia, Hellboy, Batman, Escapists, Superman, Queen & Country, and more
  • He’s also provided art and storyboards for films (including motion comics for Pan’s Labyrinth and Predators) and other media projects

In short: this is a rare chance to meet an artist whose work lives at the intersection of fine art, comics, horror, and the cinematic.
