Years ago—24 years ago, to be precise—Jason Shawn Alexander created around 80 illustrations for a Scrooge “illustrated novel” that never quite escaped the ghostly realm of “almost happened.”
Recently, he rediscovered that artwork and decided not just to dust it off, but to rework, redraw, and complete the book at last. Some of those original pieces have been gently tweaked; others were completely reborn; new illustrations have been added to flesh out the vision.
Jason describes the process as a rare chance to have “an in-depth creative conversation with [his] 25-year-old self.” That’s the energy you feel on every page: a dialogue across time, between who he was and who he is now, wrapped around Charles Dickens’ most enduring ghost story.
