This August, our Graphic Novel Club heads to a Gotham City gone to rot for one of the most iconic and influential superhero stories ever told.
We’re gathering to discuss Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Frank Miller’s genre-defining vision of an aging Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement to reclaim the streets of Gotham. Bold, brutal, politically charged, and endlessly influential, The Dark Knight Returns helped reshape Batman and superhero comics for generations to come. Forty years after its original publication, we’re returning to the book to see what still feels revolutionary, what hits differently today, and why its shadow continues to loom so large over the Dark Knight.
