Agents, kill the lights.

On October 7, 2026, Marvel Comics is opening the door to the Midnight Universe, a terrifying new world where familiar heroes have been twisted into something darker, stranger, and far more dangerous.

The entire line launches on the same day with three new ongoing series:

  • Midnight X-Men #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte

  • Midnight Fantastic Four #1 by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker

  • Midnight Spider-Man #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc

All three debut issues hit comic shops together.

This is a full-scale Midnight takeover.

What Is Marvel’s Midnight Universe?

The Midnight Universe gives some of Marvel’s biggest creators free rein to rebuild iconic heroes through horror, body transformation, dark fantasy, and interconnected mythology.

These characters may look familiar, but their missions have changed.

The X-Men are no longer fighting for acceptance. They hunger for blood. The Fantastic Four are venturing into new dimensions, but they may bring something terrible back with them. Peter Parker still receives incredible power, only this time that power transforms him into a monster.

Each title tells its own story, so you can choose the transmission that calls to you. Readers who secure all three will experience the wider mythology taking shape across the Midnight Universe from its first night.

Jonathan Hickman returns to the X-Men with another ambitious reinvention of mutantkind.

The shadows of New York City are now stalked by vampires and mutant empires. An unstable peace holds the two species apart, but the factions within them are already preparing for war. When that peace finally breaks, anyone who remains unturned will be trapped in the crossfire.

Hickman is building this series around intricate plotting, interconnected mythology, and long-form payoffs. In other words, this is exactly the kind of mission his readers know to watch closely from the first issue.

If you like your X-Men comics filled with dangerous politics, competing factions, and blood-soaked world-building, this is your priority target.

Midnight Fantastic Four #1

Marvel’s First Family enters the realm of cosmic horror.

An obsessive scientist reaches into corners of the universe that humanity was never meant to explore. His discoveries leave him and three others warped in strange and horrifying ways. Whatever they found in those hidden dimensions has changed them, and humanity may not survive what follows.

Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker are rebuilding the Fantastic Four as a story of mad science, cults, forbidden knowledge, and Lovecraftian terror. The familiar spirit of exploration remains, but wonder has been replaced by dread.

The Fantastic Four have always asked what might be waiting beyond the boundaries of the known universe. Midnight Fantastic Four asks what happens when the answer follows them home.

Midnight Spider-Man #1

Peter Parker’s origin has never looked this disturbing.

In the Midnight Universe, a young Peter is transformed into a grotesque spider hybrid by Oscorp as part of the corporation’s pursuit of eternal life. When Oscorp uses the secrets hidden inside his mutation to create more human-animal hybrids, Peter must embrace his monstrous new form to stop them.

Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc, making his Marvel Comics debut, are approaching Spider-Man through full-force body horror. Johnson has cited the unsettling visual worlds of H.R. Giger, David Cronenberg, Junji Ito, John Carpenter, and Resident Evil as creative touchstones.

This is not Peter Parker wearing a darker costume. This is a Spider-Man whose transformation is painful, grotesque, and impossible to hide.

With great power comes something monstrous.

The mystery continues on the covers themselves.

The main covers for the Midnight titles will use Marvel’s new Cloaked Cover format. Part of each image will be obscured on the front, with the complete artwork waiting beyond the cover.

Marvel has revealed the full artwork for the three debut issues, but future covers will remain hidden until readers dare to pick them up at the shop.

The first Cloaked Covers come from:

  • Dike Ruan on Midnight X-Men #1

  • Kev Walker on Midnight Fantastic Four #1

  • Steve Beach on Midnight Spider-Man #1

Collectors who enjoy cover reveals, interconnected lines, and strange artifacts for the Quantum Archive will want to keep these on their radar.

Three First Issues. One Dark New Universe.

There is no required reading order for the Marvel Midnight Universe launch. All three series begin on October 7, and each offers a different entrance into the darkness.

Choose your path:

  • Enter a war between vampires and mutant empires in Midnight X-Men.

  • Unlock forbidden dimensions in Midnight Fantastic Four.

  • Witness Peter Parker’s horrifying transformation in Midnight Spider-Man.

Or secure all three and experience the Midnight Universe from the moment the clock strikes twelve.

Agents who want these debut issues waiting at Revenge Of: Base Station should update their Pull Box and place their preorders before the order window closes.

The light had its turn.

Now Midnight begins.
