That’s why we’re thrilled to offer CGC grading and JSA authentication services at this event—giving you the chance to authenticate and preserve those moments for years to come!

What is CGC Grading?

The Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) is one of the most trusted names in the collectible world, known for grading and preserving comics, trading cards, magazines, and other prized items. CGC experts assign a grade based on a variety of factors, including page quality, spine wear, and restoration, which directly impacts the value and preservation of each item. After grading, items are encapsulated in a secure, tamper-evident case with a label noting important details like grade and authenticity.

James Spence Authentication (JSA) is the go-to for autograph authentication. For collectors with signed comics, JSA provides verification, ensuring that the signatures are genuine. With so many creators present at Comic Creators Block Party 2024, JSA authentication is a perfect way to protect and authenticate those autographs from the artists and writers you admire.

Please note: There won’t be a CGC Signatory on-site for this event. While JSA will authenticate autographs obtained here, only a CGC representative can witness signatures for CGC’s Signature Series. If you’re interested in JSA’s autograph authentication, however, we’re happy to help ensure your signed items are verified and preserved!

Available Services and Pricing at Comic Creators Block Party 2024

At our event, you can submit items for:

• CGC Grading at $22.50 per book (for modern comics; other items may vary)

• JSA Autographic Authentication for $22.50 per signature

Beyond standard grading and authentication, CGC offers additional services to help you personalize or optimize your collectibles. Here’s a quick look:

• Pressing: This optional service improves your comic’s appearance by removing minor creases and wrinkles before grading. If you’d like this service, let us know upon submission.

• JSA Autograph Grading: In addition to authenticating, JSA can also assign a grade to the quality of the signature itself, adding a layer of distinction and potential value to special pieces.

• Custom CGC Labels: Want a unique touch? CGC’s custom labels add themed designs related to characters or events, perfect for personalizing the look of your graded comics.

Note: Additional service fees for pressing, autograph grading, and custom labels will be added to your invoice upon request.

Our Process for Submissions, Invoices, and Shipping

Here’s what you can expect when you submit your items for CGC grading or JSA authentication at our event:

1. Submission & Invoicing: We’ll collect and prepare your items for grading during the event. You’ll receive an invoice within the following week detailing all service fees, including prorated shipping and CGC form fees. If your items aren’t standard modern comics, any additional fees will also be noted on your invoice.

2. Processing Timeline: Our goal is to send orders to CGC within 14 days after the event (or sooner if invoices are paid promptly). Once your items arrive at CGC, grading, encapsulation, and shipping will proceed according to CGC’s processing schedule. We’ll keep you informed of any timeline updates as we receive them.

3. Adjustments & Questions: Upon receiving your invoice, please reach out with any questions or requests for additional services like pressing or custom labels. Once your order is confirmed and paid, we’ll submit it to CGC promptly.

4. Cancellation Policy: If you decide to cancel your submission, your items will be available for pickup at our store and will not be sent to CGC.

5. Payment: All invoices must be paid in full before we submit items to CGC. Any items with unpaid invoices will remain with us until payment is completed.
